March Prayer Alert from CEO Allen Speer

Dear Agape Flights Prayer Force,

As we begin this first full week of March, please join me in prayer for the nation of Haiti. Over the weekend, armed gangs stormed the largest prison in Port au Prince in an attempt to release four thousand inmates. This is just the latest manifestation of the chaos that has all but paralyzed that city and much of the nation.

Agape Flights has served missionaries in Port au Prince for more than four decades. Many of them are like family to us. Please pray for their safety.

It was just this past Saturday that we had the pleasure of hosting several Haiti-based missionaries at our annual open house, Pie in the Sky. Nearly 1,500 people came to our hangar for food, fellowship, and to learn more about our mission. As we thank God for the wonderful day we had here in Venice, our hearts are heavy for the people of Haiti and the missionaries who serve them.

Please pray also for our mission partners in the Bahamas and in the Dominican Republic. One of our D.R.-based mission partners has recently opened two safe-houses for girls and young women rescued from human trafficking. As difficult as these circumstances are to think about and talk about, we absolutely must pray about them.

Our mission partners regularly face circumstances we might call impossible. Yet, by the power of prayer and through the enabling of the Holy Spirit, they continue to do the work they’ve been called to do. Missionary Jim Elliot, martyred in Ecuador in 1956, once wrote, “The saint who advances on his knees never retreats.”

Please pray for our married missionaries, that their relationships would be strengthened to endure the challenges unique to their calling. Pray for the children of those missionaries, that they would be safe, and that they would seek God’s will and walk in it.

In closing, please accept my gratitude for the amazing Agape Family who have been praying for me. Please keep praying, God is at work in my physical life! I am clinging to this scripture:

“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:2-7).

I am confident that God is able,

Allen T. Speer, CEO
